All-New Lexus TX Unveiled Offering Three Powertrain Choices, Three Rows of Seating

In 2023, Lexus unveiled its latest iteration of the RX. Unfortunately, they decided not to continue producing the three-row RX L variant. This decision left the automaker without a compact SUV option featuring three rows. However, the situation is about to change as Lexus introduces the 2024 TX model today.

The upcoming Lexus TX model will provide customers with a choice of three powertrains at its launch. One of the options is the TX 350, equipped with a 2.4-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, generating an impressive 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. This variant will be available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Another option is the TX 500h, which exclusively features the Direct4 AWD system and is offered in the F Sport Performance grade. It utilises a 2.4-litre hybrid powertrain, delivering a robust 366 hp and 409 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, the TX550h+ incorporates a 3.5-litre V6 plug-in hybrid engine, boasting 406 hp and an estimated 33-mile electric driving range.

The TX by Lexus was meticulously crafted to enhance its aerodynamic capabilities, complemented by the sleek and sophisticated “Unified Grille.” The innovative design seamlessly integrates the slender headlights with a refined trim element running across the front. Meanwhile, at the rear, a striking L-shaped light bar spans the entire width, elegantly accentuating the presence of the Lexus emblem.

Grades And Specifications

The upcoming 2024 TX model will be available in four different versions: Standard, Premium, Luxury, and F Sport Performance. The factory specifications for the Standard, Premium, and Luxury grades include twenty-inch wheels. In addition, Lexus plans to offer twenty-two-inch wheel options specifically for the TX 350 Luxury, which come as standard on the 550h+. The 500h F Sport trim will have unique 22-inch rims with an exclusive design.

Based on the trim level, it will be available in a choice of seven different exterior colors. These include Cloudburst Gray, Wind Chill Pearl, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica, Incognito, and Celestial Silver Metallic.

On the interior, Lexus provides the option of a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a head-up display. Standard features include wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, customers have the option to upgrade to a premium 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, which is compatible with all powertrain options. The crossover is equipped with a total of seven charging outlets and three power outlets.

You have the option to choose between second-row captain’s chairs or a 60/40 split-folding bench. Additionally, you can opt for a two-seat layout with a removable center console for the second row. The TX model is built on the GA-K platform, which is shared with the recently introduced Toyota Grand Highlander. You may notice some resemblances in both the exterior and interior design elements.

The latest TX model surpasses the 2022 RX L in terms of size, resulting in a notable increase in cargo space. Specifically, the TX provides a generous 20.1 cubic feet of room behind the third row, 57.4 cubic feet behind the second row, and an impressive 97 cubic feet when both rows are folded down completely.

Cost

Lexus has not yet disclosed the price for the TX model. This three-row crossover replaces the RX L, which was discontinued upon the introduction of the extensively revamped 2023 version. In 2022, the entry-level RX 350 L had a starting price of just below $50,000. However, the price for the two-row RX has increased for the 2023 model year, and it now begins at $49,450 (inclusive of destination charges).

The all-new TX is intended to fit in between the recently launched RX and the brand-new GX, scheduled for release in 2024. The starting price for the GX is projected to be approximately $60,000. Given that the 2023 RX is already priced at $50,000, the TX is expected to fall within the low to mid $50,000s range.

Lexus has chosen its Indiana factory as the production site for the TX. The automaker specifically tailored this crossover model for the North American market and plans to make it available for purchase later this year. The TX 350 and 500h variants are expected to be released in the autumn, while the TX 550h+ will be introduced to dealerships at a later date.

The availability for the UAE and other Gulf countries is still not confirmed.
