After a period of eager waiting, Porsche has, at last, pulled the curtain back on the updated 2024 Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe versions. The exterior has received a makeover, and the dashboard has been entirely reimagined. However, the most remarkable aspect is the considerable powertrain enhancements that are sure to captivate even the most particular car aficionados. Those in the United States can now order one, with shipping starting this summer. Powertrains
The newest version of the base Cayenne model is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine. This powerful engine generates 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet, a 13 horsepower and 36 pound-feet improvement from its earlier version.
On the other hand, the Cayenne E-Hybrid pushes boundaries with its turbocharged V6 engine and robust electric motor, now delivering 174 horsepower. The combination of these two power sources results in a tremendous total output of 463 horsepower, an 8 horsepower increase from the prior model. The battery capacity of the Cayenne E-Hybrid has also seen significant advancements, jumping from 17.9 kilowatt-hours to an impressive 25.9 kilowatt-hours. While range numbers have not yet been disclosed, this increased capacity is expected to provide an extended driving range.
Additionally, the Cayenne E-Hybrid is now equipped with an 11-kilowatt AC charger, enabling home recharging in under two and a half hours.
The Cayenne S now features a powerful twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, supplanting the previous V6 powertrain. This new eight-cylinder powerhouse generates a remarkable 468 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, a 34 hp and 37 lb-ft increase from its forerunner. This considerable power increase enables both the standard and Coupe models to reach 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds, provided the Sport Chrono Package is chosen. Moreover, this luxurious SUV has a top speed of 169 mph, allowing you to outpace other vehicles with ease.
The Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT showcases an extraordinary 650-horsepower rendition of its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, which signifies a substantial increase of 19 horsepower compared to its prior model. As a result, this variant can achieve an astounding 0-60 mph acceleration in a mere 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of a breathtaking 189 mph. Furthermore, the Turbo GT version comes standard with an array of high-tech performance features, such as rear-wheel steering, air suspension, ceramic-composite brakes, and titanium exhaust pipes.
Porsche has introduced a new shock system for their Cayenne lineup, which includes the Cayenne, S, and E-Hybrid models. These updated shocks feature separate rebound and compression stages and a two-valve design. Porsche has outfitted these models with their Porsche Active Suspension Management system, claiming enhanced pitch-and-roll control.
For the Turbo GT, Porsche has made the new air suspension system standard, while it remains optional for the other models. The company asserts that this suspension system offers a more distinct differentiation between the driving modes: Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus.
Updated Exterior and Interior Design
The 2024 Cayenne has experienced a gentle transformation, maintaining its recognizable look while showcasing noteworthy refinements that heighten its visual appeal. The Matrix Design LED headlights now come standard, and their slightly sharper shape adds a touch of sophistication. Furthermore, the automaker has also updated the hood and re-contoured the fenders, improving the vehicle’s streamlined appearance. At the back, the Cayenne features new taillights with a consistent height across the car’s width, giving it a sense of harmony and equilibrium. In addition to these alterations, the Cayenne is now available in three new shades: Algarve Blue Metallic, Montego Blue Metallic, and Arctic Grey.
The Cayenne Coupe offers an optional Lightweight Sport Package that reduces the vehicle’s weight by an astounding 72 pounds. Porsche remains secretive about the contents of this package.
As for the 2024 Cayenne, the dashboard has been completely revamped from the previous model. Drivers will now be greeted with a curved 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster that appears to float effortlessly before them. The steering wheel has also been redesigned and includes user-friendly controls for easily switching between display modes. Additionally, a new stalk positioned to the left of the wheel allows for the smooth operation of the advanced driver assistance systems, which include notable features like Lane Change Assist and Lane Keep Assist, now standard in the 2024 Cayenne.
The center stack has been entirely redesigned, with a 12.3-inch infotainment display taking centre stage. The gearshift has been relocated to the dashboard, nestled between two sleek screens. The console features a prominently angled section hosting an alluring panel of switches and capacitive buttons, presumably for HVAC controls. Moreover, Porsche has introduced a convenient smartphone tray that offers up to 15 watts of inductive charging.
Porsche also offers an optional 10.9-inch screen on the passenger side of the dashboard, allowing the occupant to engage with the navigation system or watch streaming videos. Thanks to a specialized layer on display, the driver cannot see the content shown on the passenger side of the cabin.
