Geely’s EV brand, Zeekr has revealed the refreshed version of the 001 EV to make the offering spicier. The Chinese EV has introduced a 140-kilowatt-hour battery that will enable the vehicle to cover up to 641 miles (over 1,000 kilometers) on a single charge. If the car really could cover more than 1000 km between charges, it would become the world’s longest-range EV (at least as per my knowledge).

The 2023 Zeekr 001 (marketed as a Luxury Safari Coupe by the automaker) will give buyers two powertrain choices, similar to before. The entry-level model has one electric motor producing 286 horsepower (200 kilowatts). On the other hand, the range-topping model comes with two electric motors generating 536 hp (400 kW). It has enough juice to hit 62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) in only 3.8 seconds.

Zeekr offers three battery choices for Chinese customers – 86 kWh and 100 kWh packs are carried over from the pre-facelift versions offering 339 miles (546 km) and 460 miles (741 km) between charges correspondingly. The best part about the new Zeekr 001 is the huge 140 kWh battery pack that will be limited to only 1,000 EV units. Zeekr claims an outstanding range of 641 miles (1,032 km). However, bear in mind this range is calculated using China’s CLTC cycle.

Speaking of the refreshed design, you won’t find many changes on the outside, which isn’t a surprise considering the EV hit the roads eight months ago (in April 2022). Design-wise it is a lifted hatchback with a length of 195.7 inches (4,970 millimeters). If the design looks familiar, that’s because it takes inspiration from another company model from Lynk and Co.

The interior gets a big 14.7-inch display in the middle of the dashboard and there is a big 8.8-inch digital driver display behind the steering wheel.

Chinese buyers can order the 2023 Zeekr 001 now and get the deliveries before the end of the first quarter. Zeekr demands ¥300,000 for the entry-level model, which means about $43,487 at the present exchange rates. Zeekr plans to introduce the 001 EV for European customers, but we are not sure whether the 140-kWh model will be a part of the range or not.
