Blue Oval has introduced the most thrilling GT variant, MK IV. The supercar has had quite a few retro-inspired limited edition models before, and this one is also enthused by the 1967 GT racecar that won the Le Mans. Relating the GT Mk IV to its ancestor, Ford limits the production to only 67 examples, and all will be created with hands at Multimatic’s factory in Markham, Ontario.
The Ford GT Mk IV ensues the GT LM Edition, which the company introduced in October. This road-legal model came with 660 horsepower, but the Mk IV pledges to offer over 800 horsepower. While Ford didn’t reveal the engine displacement, they mentioned a “unique twin-turbo EcoBoost.” We believe it will be the familiar 3.5-liter V6.
Besides a considerable power boost, the new track-only supercar uses a tweaked chassis for better handling on the stretched wheelbase. It also employs racing transmission, Multimatic’s Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) suspension, and an amended structure to improve aerodynamics. Since engineers didn’t have to follow road car rules, they could make it more aerodynamic.
The cosmetic changes to the new Mk IV are simple headlights, a more comprehensive body stance, and a massive wing and diffuser at the rear. Other additions comprise a carbon fiber roof scoop, front canards, and a prominent splitter. The side air intakes are enlarged, seemingly to cool the higher-output engine.
If you like what you see here, you need to apply and prepare a cheque for at least $1.7 million. Ford will select who is going to own this most extreme version of the GT. The deliveries will start in spring 2023.
