Foxconn, best known for developing Apple iPhones, has unveiled another EV concept, dubbed the Foxtron Model B. Ready to compete with the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volkswagen ID.4. It is the third model Taiwan-based electronics company has introduced. The full reveal is planned for October 18.

Foxconn didn’t reveal much about the new Model B, but we know the company has used an open-source MiH (short for Mobility in Harmony) electric car platform, which any automaker can employ, just like Android OS. The company will start production in Ohio in 2024 at a plant it bought from Lordstown GM.

This facility is capable of developing 500,000 vehicles annually and will be available for third-party manufacturing, similar to Foxconn’s model for electronics development. It means any corporation that needs vehicle manufacturing can contact Foxconn for their vehicle production.

Outside the US, the Foxtron Model B will be produced in China. The production in China will start a year earlier than in the US.

The Foxtron Model B features a very modern design from Pininfarina that combines crossover and hatchback styling to create a very aerodynamic and good-looking vehicle. The front, with its full-width headlights and aggressive bumper design, makes it a very dashing EV.

Other EV models Foxtron previously introduced are the Model C SUV and the Model E sedan that competes with the Tesla Model 3. Both these vehicles are underpinned on MiH platform and will be available with single and dual-motor powertrains.

All three EVs from Foxconn are still a concept that looks 100% production ready. We expect not many changes in the production models.
