Hyundai has announced that its next-generation of vehicles will be able to connect with wearable devices like Google Glass. The 2015 Hyundai Genesis will be the first vehicle to incorporate such technology.
Building on its current smartphone app, Hyundai will launch a Blue Link Glassware application next year to coincide with the market introduction of the 2015 Genesis. The Glassware app will give Genesis owners access to Hyundai’s Blue Link features and Car Care services.
“We see wearables as a technology trend, expanding from fitness and health monitoring to broader applications,” said Barry Ratzlaff, executive director, Customer Connect and Service Business Development, Hyundai Motor America. “As a leader in connected car technology, we’re always exploring new ways to use technology to enhance the ownership experience for our customers.”
The Glassware app will use “cards” to push notifications like upcoming maintenance to the wearer. The app will also give owners access to features like remote start, remote door lock/unlock, vehicle finder and Google’s send-to-car technology.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis will make its world debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show.
