Exterior

The 2023 BMW 7 Series design is a complete departure from the previous model. What strikes us most is the front-end design (which we have also witnessed on the new X7), boasting big kidney grilles, a fresh split light fitting that puts the headlights in the centre of the bumper and two-element LED running lights at the bottom of the hood. The i7 differs with blue accent bits in the base section of the car, while the petrol-powered model uses the standard M Sport package.

Available at zero cost for the i7 xDrive60, the M Sport elements make the 7 Series bolder with optional 20- and 21-inch M Sport wheel choices, and typical Shadowline trim, which blackens a few exterior accents.

Interior

The 2023 BMW 7 Series welcomes you with its new version of BMW’s Live Cockpit Plus using the latest iDrive 8 software. Similar to the X7, we see a Curved Display, a one-piece glass containing two big displays – a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster located after the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. There is a fresh Interaction Bar, unique to the 7-Series, including a crystalline surface with touch-capacitive controls for functions such as ventilation, climate control, etc.

The second row is where the real entertainment begins. You can opt for a 31.3-inch, 8K Theater Screen display fixed between the front two seats, offering rear occupants a chance to enjoy built-in Amazon Fire TV and various other connected services. The passengers at the back can control the functions through the touchscreen or using any of the two 5.5-inch tablets fixed within the door panels.

To step up your home theater experience, you can opt for the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, which swaps the regular 18 in-car speakers with 36 high-class speakers. Even the headliners have speakers, giving you a full 4D audio operation that employs magnetically controlled vibrations for improved bass.

Safety

All the models in the new 7 Series come equipped with a standard suite of BMW’s active driver-assistance systems. It is the first time that the safety suite comes with a “Level 2 Plus” hands-free driving system. The journalists who examined the 7 Series prototype found it fairly intuitive. Its exceptional lane-centering tech and automatic lane-change systems are equally capable to Cadillac’s Super Cruise and Ford’s BlueCruise.

The automaker has also improved the previously accessible Parking Assistant system on the 7 Series and i7. The tech features advanced Remote Smartphone Parking, in addition to a new Reverse Assist permitting the luxury sedan to reverse itself out of a difficult position without you giving any input to the car.

Price

The new 2023 7 Series will be available in the U.S. from this November with the entry-level 740i costing $94,295 at least (inclusive of the $995 destination fee). The V8-powered 760i xDrive goes for $114,995, while the electric i7 starts at $120,295. The availability in the UAE is not confirmed yet. Comparing prices with the 2022 7 Series, the outgoing model starts at AED 510,911 in the UAE.
