Lamborghini has introduced another model of the famous Huracan with STO power that is equally capable on the road and track. Enter the 2022 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica fetching lots of hints from the Huracan STO, which was the track-oriented model.

However, for Tecnica, the Italian automaker refined that formula to make it street smart with full capability to conquer any track.

“The car is really the perfect bridge between the standard EVO and the STO. The STO is purely for the track and the EVO is the daily use car,” Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr stated.

The power comes from a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 – the one STO gets as well – and creates around 630 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque. The energy produced goes to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with variable shift characteristics according to the chosen ANIMA drive mode.

The LDVI or “Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata” system influences the Huracan’s dynamic performance while managing the traction control, torque vectoring, and rear-wheel steering.

“Strada” is ideal for daily commutes offering comfortable rides while the Sport increases the throttle and gear responses, involving extra torque vectoring and giving the rear wheels extra room for oversteer.

For those looking to hit the racetracks, the Corsa drive mode is the way to go while burdening the rear-wheel steering, traction control, and torque vectoring for improved grip on the track.

“The handling is outstanding because you have real control of the car and you can really play with the car. Compare this to the STO which is a sharp track weapon and this car can also be marvelous on the track but at the same time easy and smooth to drive. If you want to go into oversteer, it’s really easy to handle,” stated Mohr.

“The traction control is more or less described by the slip angle and we’ve increased this threshold a bit so that you can have more slip, depending on the drive mode,” he persisted. “We have decided really to allow the driver a high level of freedom and then, with a smooth transition, engage traction control, because otherwise it feels edgy and interrupts the movement.”

The Tecnica features track-inspired cooling management with carbon-ceramic brakes giving owners assurance to hit zero to 60 in just 3.2 seconds as many times as they want. The maximum speed is limited to 202 mph.

The Tecnica looks like a Huracan but has improved aerodynamics and weight-saving measures incorporated. It is 2.4 inches longer than the Huracan EVO while having the same height and width, making it appear wider and squatter.

The interior is a welcoming place for drivers, presenting height-adjustable seats with harness seat belts, and the revamped HMI interface, which is convenient for both driver and the passenger to navigate. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration make the interior a normal place for daily driving.

Lamborghini did not reveal the pricing and the on-sale date. Anyone can guess, it won’t be cheap. Nevertheless, the best part is that it will not be a limited edition model like the STO.
