Nissan will open its order books for the 2022 Leaf in the European markets from April. The automaker didn’t introduce any new tech features for the new Leaf but we can see the exterior appearance has been enhanced and there are some new customization choices for customers. Hopefully, these changes will be enough to attract new buyers before the arrival of the high-riding model, reported to arrive in 2025.
If we compare the 2022 Nissan Leaf with the previous model, we do not find many changes. What makes it different are new wheel designs in 16- and 17-inch, the company’s altered brand emblem on the front, the wheels, and at the rear, as well a new colour-pallete. The customers will have a choice of ix monotone tints and five two-tone hues, such as the Universal Blue and Magnetic Blue shades we find on the new Qashqai and Ariya.
The company confirmed that the new Leaf would be accessible in the two battery choices for the European markets. However, they did not provide any details of the battery packs. Considering it is essentially the same vehicle as before, we can safely say that the 2022 Leaf will give customers two battery options i.e. a 40 kWh and a 62 kWh battery.
Speaking of the driving range, the bigger 63 kWh pack available on the Leaf e+ (Americans call it Leaf Plus in its region) should deliver 385 kilometers (239 miles) between charges. This estimate is based on Europe’s WLTP cycle.
Expect the 2022 Nissan Leaf to come equipped with its signature tech features. Yes, we are talking about the ProPilot, allowing the vehicle to stop, start, and keep a protected gap to the automobile in front robotically.
Another highly advanced technology from Nissan is e-Pedal, permitting the driver to accelerate, decelerate, and stop through just a single pedal. Furthermore, expect the Leaf to boast the updated NissanConnect infotainment system, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
“As the popularity of electric vehicles continues to grow, Nissan is pursuing an exhilarating chapter in its electric mobility story. Leaf has played a key role in shaping Nissan’s vision for empowering mobility and beyond, as we leverage our EV expertise to launch 23 new electrified models – including 15 full EVs – by the fiscal year 2030,” Arnaud Charpentier, Nissan VP for the AMIEO region.
While the Leaf is the best-selling electric car in Europe and even in some states of the U.S., it is not officially available in the UAE, which is sad. However, you should be able to find it in the UAE’s used car market or import it from the US.
