Lotus unveiled the Emira sports car in July 2021, offering 400 horsepower moving the rear wheels. It has been over a decade since Lotus introduced any car, and it comes before the company totally transforms into an electric automaker. Before it says goodbye to internal combustion engines, Lotus wants you to relish the Emira GT4 race car.
The Lotus Emira GT4 will debut at the Hethel test track soon, and it will be a slightly lighter version of the street-legal Emira with an aimed dry weight of 2,778 pounds (1,260 kilograms).
The automaker didn’t tell what it would remove to make the GT4 lighter, but it will, of course, ditch the comfort features and add some new race-inspired facilities such as a new Motec-stocked dash with data-logging and an FIA-compliant roll cage with a six-point harness.

The car will feature a 25-gallon (96-litre) FIA-approved fuel cell, updated suspension and braking systems, and race-focused 18-inch wheels with Pirelli GT4 tires.
The power will come from the supercharged 3.5-litre Toyota V6, generating 400 hp mating to a six-speed xTrac paddle-shift transmission. While this powertrain looks a little sluggish, it would be enough for a 2,800-pound car with a race-tuned suspension.
Lotus did not give us the pricing details, but they did say the production will be limited for the next year’s racing season.
