Toyota has plans to introduce 15 new electric vehicles, seven of which will sport the bZ emblem, short for Beyond Zero. The first of these EVs will be the bZ4X crossover, which Toyota has previewed in concept form. It will hit the roads in the middle of next year, with electric pickup to follow in the coming years.

The bZ4X concept features the looks and size of the RAV4 crossover. However, the former has a longer wheelbase and precise design. While the exterior looks bold and futuristic, we can’t say the same for the interior, which has an ineptly huge steering column. The digital gauge cluster also doesn’t look that beautiful because it is placed far back from the steering wheel.

The automaker didn’t reveal the battery sizes and range estimates. Still, we need to keep in mind that Toyota will pit this crossover against the Ford Mustang Mach-E, offering up to 305 miles of range, and the Tesla Model Y delivering 326 miles of range with its Long Range variant.

The Toyota bZ4X will use an e-TNGA electric vehicle platform co-developed with Subaru. With this platform, Subaru will also bring its own electric model soon.

More details on the specs and price will come out later this year.
