Heading into its second year, the 2022 Polestar 2 comes with two new variants: a single-motor, front-wheel-drive variant and a new dual-motor variant with more simplified settings. The pricing details are still a mystery.

The single-motor Polestar 2 will carry the same 78.0-kWh battery that we find in the AWD model. However, the power outputs differ. The single-motor variant creates 231 hp compared to 408 hp generated by the dual-motor Polestar 2.

The automaker says, the single motor variant will offer a range of 260 miles, which is 30 miles more than what EPA has calculated for the dual-motor model.

The buyers will now be able to select a simpler configuration for the new dual-motor Polestar 2 model. The options include Plus, Pilot, and Performance packages.

Out of these, the Plus package is more desirable due to the heat pump feature. The company says it can improve the range by up to 10 percent. How? The pump takes the heat created by the drivetrain and use for heating purposes inside the vehicle. Therefore, the battery does not have to provide energy for heating.

While the automaker did not reveal the price of these two new variants, they did say that the new 2022 Polestar 2 variants will be available by the end of this year. The dual-motor Launch Edition is on sale right now.
