Bentley is not going to develop an all-electric vehicle on its own because they are not satisfied with the battery tech they have got. Therefore, it was always a good idea to get help from a fellow automaker like Audi or Porsche. Which of the two they would prefer? The Bentley CEO has voiced about it.

Adrian Hallmark says that he is glad that Audi will take control of the Bentley rather than Porsche. The Volkswagen Group has made this decision to “allow for synergies to be achieved as part of the electrification strategy of the two premium brands.” Audi will take control of Bentley on March 1, 2021.

“We will have much more synergies with Audi in five to 10 years’ time than with Porsche because Porsche is sportier and we are more on the luxury side than the performance side,” Hallmark stated while talking to Automotive News. We do not know whether this association will come with Audi enjoying a share in Bentley or not.

In the future, we will see Bentley using Audi’s platforms and tuning prowess. The British automaker is happy and more comfortable with Audi because both brands focus on luxury and comfort more than sports car capabilities. Audi is definitely a wise choice for Bentley engineers.

“With the current cars we had to get into the engineering of those architectures after they had largely been done,” Hallmark commented. “The difference now with this new electric architecture is that we are right at the beginning of the definition of what it needs to achieve.”
