Dubai Municipality’s job is to maintain public safety and cleanliness in the Emirate. As part of their new campaign named ‘My Vehicle’, the authority is fining and confiscating dirty and damaged vehicles. Any car that is adversely impacting the hygiene and look of the city will first receive a notification from Dubai Municipality.

Here is a three-step process followed by the authority:

  1. The municipality will send an SMS to the owner on the registered cell number. They may also paste a sticker on the vehicle obstructing the cleanliness of the city.
  2. If the owner fails to wash or remove the vehicle within the designated time, the authority will confiscate the car and take it to their scrap yard. The vehicle can stay there for up to six months. The car owner has to claim the vehicle within this period by paying Dh1,381 comprising municipal charges, storage charges, and towing fees.
  3. If the owner fails to claim the vehicle within six months, the municipality will auction it.

My Vehicle Campaign was also initiated last year.
