Soon after introducing the facelifted 3008, the French automaker has unveiled the slightly bigger 2021 Peugeot 5008 crossover. Boasting three rows of seating, the exterior has received similar design elements as we witnessed in the smaller 3008. We are talking about the frameless grille stretching below the headlights, and the fanged styled LED daytime running lights going all the way down on the bumper.
Peugeot has fixed the “5008” emblem on the leading edge of the hood and fixed full LED headlights and taillights on the top tier variants. Additionally, the GT and GT Pack models boast the unique front grille styling in addition to new pair of 19-inch alloys for the GT Pack. Both of these trim levels can be had with a Black Pack adding an array of dark accents on the exterior.
Similar to the Peugeot 3008, the bigger sibling also receives the updated 10-inch display for the infotainment system along with the digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Furthermore, the new 5008 boasts a driving mode selector with an automatic gearbox offering Normal, Sport, and Eco drive modes. Besides, the Advanced Grip Control allows drivers to alter the traction control with Normal, Snow, Mud, and Sand modes.
On the technology front, the 2021 Peugeot 5008 does not disappoint either. We are talking about adaptive cruise control (with stop and go), a night vision system, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane position assist, massaging seats, and a 515-watt Focal sound system. Customers can also opt for a dual-pane sunroof and a hands-free tailgate.
Plenty of options for buyers in the powertrain department. It starts from a three-cylinder 1.2L turbocharged gasoline mill creating 130 horsepower and 230 Newton-meters (170 pound-feet) of torque. The next in order is a four-cylinder 1.6L generating 180 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. The smaller mill comes with a standard six-speed manual while an eight-speed automatic is optional. This optional gearbox is standard for the 1.6L engine.
Diesel lovers can opt for a 1.5L four-cylinder yielding 130 hp and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque and can be had with both available transmissions. The stronger 2.0L diesel is good for 180 hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque assisted by an eight-speed auto.
While buyers may not be interested in the performance figures, we need to inform you that the most powerful 180hp gasoline engine can take the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. The top speed is limited to 220 km/h.
Same as the 2021 3008, the 2021 Peugeot 5008 will hit the dealerships before the end of this year. The pricing details will be available closer to the launch. For reference, the 2020 model starts at around AED 109,900.
