The 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has finally made its public debut after a long teaser campaign. Seeing the changes, we must say the full-size luxury sedan has upped the ante by introducing two hybrid-mills, a big central touchscreen featuring the latest MBUX infotainment system, and more active safety facilities.

The automaker did not make extravagant exterior changes in the 2021Mecedes-Benz S-Class, however, they did make it more aerodynamic by incorporating a longer hood, sharper headlights, horizontal taillights, aerostripes inside the mirrors, and a drag coefficient of 0.22. It is also longer, wider, and taller as well as features an extended wheelbase (2.0 inches more).

The buyers will see the real magic inside thanks to the new 12.8-inch touchscreen, four horizontally oriented sleek new air vents, full-length dash finishes, optional 30 loudspeakers and eight resonators, and upgraded capacitive controls for the steering wheel. Another premium feature is the luxury seating boasting heating, ventilation, and 10 varied massage functions. The new optional “Energizing” feature allows users six different settings including Refresh, Warmth, Vitality, Enjoyment, Well-Being, and Training. As the user selects an option, the system changes music, ambient lighting, seat positioning, and air conditioning to produce the chosen effect.

The game-changer 12.8-inch infotainment offers an OLED setup for sharper graphics and deeper blacks using 30% less energy and giving you the freedom to control most functions through voice commands. Other prominent technologies inside include augment-reality navigation, four screens available throughout the cabin including the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that users can configure for Discreet, Sporty, Exclusive, and Classic to achieve different effects.

Powering the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S500 is a turbocharged 3.0L inline six-cylinder mill assisted by a starter-generator with EQ Boost – a 48-volt mild-hybrid system generating 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. The setup offers an extra 67 horsepower and 15 lb-ft compared to the ongoing model. The engine mates to a four-wheel-drive system.

Buyers looking for more power can opt for the twin-turbocharged V8 yielding 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, which is a boost of 6 horsepower over the previous model.

We do not know the acceleration figures yet but we do know both the variants will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission with 130 miles per hour top speed. Drivers will be able to choose among Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, and Individual drive modes.

The standard E-Active Body Control, Pre-Safe Impulse Control, and new four-link up the front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension are boons for Mercedes lovers along with added safety features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active steering assist, lane-keep assist, lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition, front and rear cross-traffic alert, and active blind-spot monitoring.

Some other premium features available for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class include a special blind-spot warning for drivers leaving the sedan, rear-seat airbags, PIN entry choice on the driver’s side door and fingerprint (located inside, next to the hazard light button), face, and voice recognition.

The company did not reveal the pricing details of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class but we can definitely tell it will be pricier than the ongoing model, which starts at around AED 430,000. We expect it to reach the Middle Eastern markets in the first half of next year.
