The Ariel Motor Company has introduced Nomad R, the successor of the off-road-ready Nomad. The limited-edition model features a 2.0-liter K20Z3 unit from the old Civic Type R plus Ariel’s supercharger creating the power of 335 horses. A hard push on the pedal can take the go-anywhere car to 96 km/h in only 2.9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 195 km/h.
The power goes to the wheels through a Sadev Six-speed close-ratio sequential transmission. It is an improved version of what we have seen in the Atom V8 and Atom 3.5R models. The upshift and downshifts happen in just 40 milliseconds and 50 milliseconds respectively.
The engineers installed four-piston calipers and two-piece ventilated rotors at both axles along with adaptable brake bias to make it a perfect off-roader.
The best thing about the Nomad R is the customization options for the buyers. They have full freedom to change anything from adaptable Bilstein dampers to a set of latest bucket seats.
Unfortunately, Ariel is only making 5 units of the Nomad R, each wearing a £64,500 (about $81,300) price tag (excluding VAT). We heard three of them are already spoken for, so just two are left for grabs. Hurry up!
