Although the government has reopened vehicle testing centers in the UAE, you do not have to visit a center to renew your car registration. You can perform all the functions online to stay safe. The authorities have already stopped vehicle testing before the renewal of registration, so you will not get the renewal stickers automatically. You can, however, visit a testing center to get the sticker. Bear in mind, you cannot get physical registration cards.
How to Check if My Vehicle Registration is Expired
- Dubai residents can open the RTA website, tap on ‘Check Vehicle Expiry’, enter their license plate number, and find out the vehicle expiry date.
- Abu Dhabi residents can open the Abu Dhabi police site, give their emirate id and the system will give information about the vehicles registered under their name along with the expiry details.
- People in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah can open this link, click on ‘Renewal of Vehicle Registration Card’, and give their vehicle details to know the expiry date.
- The cost of vehicle registration renewal is Dh370.
What is the Registration Renewal Process?
To renew your car registration, you must have at least 13-month auto insurance. If you have it, open the relevant site in your Emirate (RTA site for Dubai, Abu Dhabi Police site for Abu Dhabi, or Ministry of Interior site). Once you are on the site, provide your Emirates id, vehicle registration info, and your personal info, make the payment through your debit or credit card, and consider your registration renewed. We have stated the method in this post.
