The organizers of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance have declared that the 70th edition of the show will not take place this year rather it will happen next year on August 15. Unfortunately, this is not the first auto show, which has been abandoned due to the COVID-19 crisis. Previously, the Geneva and Detroit shows were also canceled for the same reason.

Those who have bought the tickets for the show would be able to use them next year. However, if anyone does not want to attend the show in 2021, they can ask for a refund by emailing to info@pebblebeachconcours.net.

The Chairman of Concours, Sandra Button said, “My heart goes out to all of the people who are involved in the Pebble Beach Concours and who are impacted by this decision. Many of our entrants have been working on a special car for years, and this was to be their moment. Some of our overseas entrants were nearing the point of putting their cars on boats and planes, and their own travel arrangements have long been made. The same is true for many of our international cadre of judges.”

The organizers had already selected the vehicles for the show and now have informed the automakers about their decision on cancellation. However, the selected cars will be able to attend the 2021 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The press release sent to the show entrants also mentions, “features will remain as planned, with a display of past Best of Show winners along the edge of Stillwater Cove, and special classes focusing on Pininfarina coachwork, Porsche 917, Talbot-Lago Grand Sport, Miller racing, Iso, Early Electrics and the Carrera Panamericana.”

While the major auto events have been canceled around the world, the New York Auto Show and Beijing Show are rescheduled for August 28 and September 26, respectively. The Paris Motor Show will happen in October but in a constrained environment with fewer participants.
