The American SUV and 4X4 maker Jeep has shown its commitment to become the greenest and world’s most sustainable SUV company by producing more and more environment-friendly hybrid electric vehicles. At the 2020 CES in January, the company showcased their first plug-in hybrid 4xe models of the Wrangler, Compass and Renegade, which are now undergoing testing in Sweden under harsh weather conditions.

The global President of Jeep, Christian Meunier has indicated that although it is a challenge for Jeep, going green means enhanced performance along with environmental benefits. He also pointed out that plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) are vital for Jeep’s plans to become the most sustainable SUV company, owing to their multiple benefits. The PHEVs can deliver an all-electric 50-kilometer range, zero emissions, as well as, eliminate range anxiety for drivers. In the future, Jeep have plans to complement its PHEV range with fully-electric vehicles.

With their high-voltage batteries, Jeep’s hybrid electric models will likely attract adventure enthusiasts and off-road travelers. These batteries would also become a handy source of power for a wide range of electrical equipment used by campers.

In addition, Meunier expressed his confidence regarding rapid ‘electrification’ of the US market in future. This will present a good opportunity for Jeep to introduce electric-powered models on a mass scale.
