Right after the deadly Coronavirus outbreak in Italy, Ferrari decided to close its Maranello plant. They planned to resume operations on March 27 but never knew the situation will go so bad that they had to stretch the production suspension. Ferrari now has decided to restart the vehicle development process on 14 April 2020 provided things remain right on track. Of course, they need parts and components to carry out their operations and that can only happen if the supply chain works properly.
“All activities that can be conducted in smart working will continue to be performed as has been the case in recent weeks,” Ferrari said in their press release. “The company will continue to cover all days of absence to those unable to take advantage of this solution.”
Ferrari also stated that the company would be able to offer financial direction to its investors on May 4, which is the time when they will reveal the firm’s first-quarter earnings of 2020.
Ferrari is not the only automaker that is planning to resume vehicle development process, Toyota and FCA also want to restart operations next month in America. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles suspended its operations in North America on March 19.
