The MX-5 Miata has been enjoying a very healthy sales record throughout the world, thanks for its standard equipment and good looks. To make sure, things don’t go upside down, the automaker has introduced the refreshed 2020 MX-5 Miata with more tech.
Although the changes are not extensive, they will still please new buyers who would appreciate extra facilities in i-Activsense safety. This system will now also contain blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, smart city brake support, and a lane departure warning system. All these are standard on the entry-level model (Sport) along with revised Mazda badging, new fonts, and the latest key fob scheme.
A step ahead is the MX-5 Miata Club boasting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the first time. The manual model also includes a limited-slip differential, Bilstein dampers, front shock tower brace, and a sport-tuned suspension. Apart from the new i-Activsense safety facilities, it has a nine-speaker Bose audio system, and LED daytime running lights.
Lastly, we have the MX-5 Grand Touring with the same suspension features as available on the Club trim.
What didn’t change in the 2020 MX-5 Miata is Mazda’s Skyactiv-G 2.0L engine. It still produces the same 181 horsepower and 205 Newton-meters of torque. The engine mates to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic.
With all these changes come the price bump. The entry-level Sport model with the manual transmission will now sell at $26,580, which is $850 more than the 2019 MX-5. The automatic variant adds another $1,350 to the price. It will cost $27,930.
Additionally, the Club manual will start at $30,290, while the automatic will wear a price tag of $30,890. The RF Club gives the price a big jump to $33,045. Add automatic to the mix and you have to pay $600 more. Furthermore, if you are interested in the Brembo / BBS Recaro package, you have to spend $4,470 for the soft top and $4,670 for the RF.
The Grand Touring manual, being the range-topping trim, is priced at $31,670. The automatic variant takes the price to $32,195. The RF Grand Touring gets even costlier at $34,425 for the manual and $34,750 for the automatic.
The 2020 Mazda MX-5 Miata will hit the roads in February.
