The British automaker has revealed a teaser image of their limited-edition Aston Martin V12 Speedster inspired by two famous roadsters of the past. The company will only create 88 units for the global markets.
“The 88 enthusiast drivers and collectors who secure the keys to these cars can be confident that in doing so, they are also securing an iconic new piece of Aston Martin history,” stated Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group CEO Dr. Andy Palmer.
The two-seat Aston Martin V12 Speedster looks similar to the 1959 DBR1 and 2013 CC100 Speedster Concept. It will carry a twin-turbo 5.2L V12 engine churning out a whopping 690 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters of torque. The engine is assisted by an eight-speed automatic transmission. The automaker said that they will take special care to the sound of this roadster for a pleasurable roofless driving experience.
The company also says it will feature a “cutting-edge motorsport and aviation technology”. However, they didn’t provide any details on this. Maybe it has something to do with the company’s recent collaboration with Airbus.
The V12 Speedster will be hand-built by the Q by Aston Martin. We expect the customers to receive this special car at the start of next year. The company did not provide the pricing details yet.
