Doesn’t matter where you are driving in the UAE, you must understand the legal speed limits to avert harm to yourself as well as the road users. Abu Dhabi Police say inappropriate speed is one of the biggest reasons for accidents in the Emirate. To know the legal speed limits on any road, see the signpost along the stretch of the road. The picture below shows the maximum speed limit for cars and trucks is 110 km/h and 80 km/h, respectively. The blue signboard says; do not go below the 60 km/h on this road.

Besides, motorists must also know that some roads give drivers the flexibility to go above the stated speed limit (this leeway is not available in Abu Dhabi). So, the drivers are penalized only when they cross that buffer. The moment you cross the buffer, you get Dh300 fine. Keep hitting the pedal and the fine increases on each 10 km/h speed. Know about the fines here.
While going faster than the prescribed limit is an offense, driving slower than that is also punishable by law. You get Dh400 fine if you drive below the minimum set speed limit.
Always be vigilant while driving on the UAE roads and keep checking the speed limit signs.
