Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has made important changes in the Abu Dhabi Toll Gate System by offering free passage through all the 4 bridges during off-peak hours. The new system will be effective from January 2, 2020 (as informed to you in a news), where drivers have to pay Dh4 during peak hours (from 7am to 9am and from 5pm to 7pm), Saturday to Thursday.

When DMT first introduced the Abu Dhabi Toll Gate System, they planned to charge Dh2 for off-peak hours and holidays. With these changes, the motorists won’t even pay a fil on Fridays and public holidays when they pass through the Sheikh Zayed Bridge, the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Al Maqta Bridge, and Musaffah Bridge.
The maximum a vehicle has to pay in a day remains the same at Dh16 and Dh200/month.

While this decision is hailed by most of the residents in the UAE, some aren’t happy about it because they can’t avoid the peak-hours due to their daily work schedule.
“Abu Dhabi Toll Gate System will reduce congestion and encourage the use of alternative transport. The public transport network has been expanded by adding 200 daily trips and purchasing 327 new buses,” said in a statement by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi.
