Nissan’s most successful and admired sports car has just gone better, offering more excitement, higher performance, and unmatched refinement. One of the biggest highlights of this year’s Dubai International Motor Show, the 2020 Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition is made to commemorate the 50-year struggle of the engineers, who have taken the nameplate to a level never imagined when it started.
“A GT-R is about total balance management,” stated Hiroshi Tamura, chief product specialist for the GT-R. “It is not about chasing a power figure but creating a new GT-R, where no aspect has been overlooked. This is appropriate to celebrate the GT-R 50th anniversary.”
The 2020 Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition is available alongside four other trim levels, namely GT-R Premium, GT-R Black Edition, GT-R Track Edition, and GT-R NISMO.
Talking specifically about the interior of the 2020 Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition, it gives us a sense of luxury, refinement, and comfort thanks to the special steering wheel and shift knob trim, exclusive seat embossing, an Alcantara® headliner with particular stitching, Alcantara-wrapped sunvisors, and so much more.
“The Nissan GT-R has been the icon of our company’s driving performance for the past half-century,” stated Shinichiro Irie, program design director for the GT-R. “We were highly motivated to ensure that the 2020 Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition stands out. While the exterior and interior changes may seem subtle at first glance, they’re still impactful, especially with the new paint schemes, keeping the car’s lines and overall presence modern and edgy.”
While the 50th-anniversary edition carries the GT-R’s 565-horsepower 3.8L V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine, it is more efficient owing to the new turbochargers the engineers added to improve the low rpm response. The engine is mated to an updated 6-speed dual-clutch transmission with an advanced “R mode,” created for driving both on the road and the track. Other improvements include more aggressive downshifts for reduced understeer, a new titanium muffler, tuned electronically controlled suspension for better cornering stability, more linear steering, and a new brake booster.
If you are someone who loves to take your car on Dubai Autodrome, Nissan’s 2020 Track Edition is an ideal option for this. It has got more power and better acceleration response compared to the standard model.
“With the 2020 GT-R, we kept to the car’s concept – pursuing ultimate driving pleasure,” stated Tamura. “Once you take hold of the steering wheel, you will immediately know that no other car in the world delivers as much satisfaction to the driver, both physically and spiritually.”
